How it works
What each Pro feature does and when you would use it.
What is a dynamic QR code?
A static QR code encodes the destination URL directly into the pattern. If the URL changes, you need a new code. A dynamic QR code encodes a short redirect URL instead. When scanned, the redirect forwards the user to your actual destination. You can change that destination from your dashboard at any time without reprinting the code. This matters most for printed materials (packaging, business cards, posters) where reprinting is costly or not an option.
When should I use static vs. dynamic?
Use static when the destination is permanent: a personal website, a Wi-Fi password, contact details. Use dynamic when the destination might change or you want scan counts. Examples: a restaurant menu URL that updates each season, a product page that could move, a campaign where you need to measure engagement. If you are unsure, dynamic costs nothing extra and keeps the option to update the link later.
What are short URLs and why do they matter for QR codes?
Each dynamic QR code uses a short redirect URL like qrtez.com/r/Ab3xK9p. QR codes store data in a grid of squares. Longer URLs produce denser grids that are harder to scan, especially at small print sizes or from a distance. A short URL keeps the grid simple no matter how long the real destination URL is.
How does scan tracking work?
Every time a dynamic QR code is scanned, the redirect passes through our server and we count it. The total scan count appears on your dashboard next to each code. Static codes bypass the redirect entirely, so scans cannot be tracked for them.
What can I do in the cloud dashboard?
The dashboard stores every QR code you save, both static and dynamic. From there you can view scan counts, edit the target URL of dynamic codes, copy the short URL, and re-download any code. Your dashboard is tied to your account and accessible from any device.
